Why yes, I am obsessed with broken seed stitch socks

  • Yarn: Cascade Heritage Paints in Thunder
  • Needles: 2mm/US0
  • Patten: broken seed stitch over 64 sts.

Part of my goal to knit more socks in “practical” colors (gray, black). These are blue-ish gray, so only sort of practical. The broken seed stitch is just so easy to knit. I can knit this in the dark-in movie theaters, in the car (passenger only), and places where I dn’t have to look at my knitting, like meetings. The pattern repeat keeps things from being dreary, like plain stockinette.

Do you knit toe up or top down? I have got to try knitting my own socks, but I get conflicting advice about which is the way to go.

I mostly knit top down. I like how they fit. I’ve done a few socks toe-up, but I don’t enjoy knitting that way, and I also don’t like the fit.

I suggest that you knit one pair each way, and see what you like best.
